Find your people
Traditional pen pals, supportive friendships, cultural exchange, everyday companionship, and relationships that may naturally grow into chosen family.
Why OutKin exists
Find your people. Build your chosen family.
OutKin is an LGBTQ+-rooted, friendship-first community for adults who want relationships with more depth than a feed, a swipe, or a follower count can offer. It is built around a simple idea: the people who become family are not always the people we were born to.
Traditional pen pals, supportive friendships, cultural exchange, everyday companionship, and relationships that may naturally grow into chosen family.
The experience is built around thoughtful one-to-one correspondence rather than public popularity, endless scrolling, or performing for an audience.
Email addresses and mailing addresses are not public profile fields. Physical address sharing uses a separate mutual-consent process between established pen pals.
OutKin is not a dating service. Chosen family here means adult platonic friendship that becomes meaningful through trust, consistency, care, and time—not assigned parent or child roles.
You can say that consistency, encouragement, cards, traditions, milestones, long letters, and simply showing up matter to you without explaining estrangement, rejection, grief, trauma, or anything else you would rather keep private. OutKin helps people find connection; it does not match people for money, housing, therapy, guardianship, employment, or emergency support.
Public early access
OutKin is open to the public while the experience continues to improve. Early members may encounter a smaller match pool and occasional rough edges, but they also have a real voice in shaping what this community becomes.
